The Blue Jays looking to close on New York Yankees outfielder
The Toronto Blue Jays have some concerns with their outfield heading into the season and it looks like they might look towards former New York Yankees outfielder Alex Verdugo to help with those issues.
Blue Jays could look to bring in Alex Verdugo to help with outfield problems

Verdugo is currently still a free agent as stories were released yesterday that he has yet to receive an MLB offer after a rough season with the Yankees last season.

The Blue Jays are expected to have Anthony Santander, George Springer and Daulton Varsho as their starters in the outfield this season but with Varsho still injured and Springer struggling, adding some depth with Verdugo could definitely help.
Varsho is already coming back from injury, and Springer isn't getting younger, which makes Verdugo a great lefty bat to add as a fourth outfielder. -King
Verdugo had a tough season with the Yankees last year but has proven to be a consistent hitter over his career with his best season coming in 2022 with the Boston Red Sox where he finished with 11 homeruns and 74 RBIs.
Verdugo, a 28 has demonstrated consistent performance throughout his MLB career. He has a .272 batting average with 70 home runs and 316 RBIs over right MLB seasons While his 2024 season with the New York Yankees saw a dip in performance (posting a .233 average with 13 home runs and 61 RBIs) it's essential to consider this within the broader context of his career. -King
While Verdugo will not be a game changer for the Blue Jays, he would bring in some much needed depth in the outfield and could end up being a steal if they land him on a cheap contract and he improves from last year.
