News broke this morning that Shohei Ohtani's 50th homerun ball finally sold at auction for an insane $4.39 million after his historic season.
Ohtani made history this past season as being the only player in MLB history to ever have a 50+ homerun season along with 50 stolen bases for the first ever 50/50 season. Ohtani not only broke this incredible record but also did it while recovering from Tommy John surgery.

Los Angeles Dodgers slugger Shohei Ohtani's 50th home run ball sold for $4.392 million at auction, including buyer's premium, shattering the record paid for a baseball -- or any sports ball, for that matter.
The previous high price was Mark McGwire's record-breaking 70th home run ball from the 1998 MLB season, which Spawn creator Todd McFarlane paid $3 million for in early 1999. -Hajducky
It seems that everything Ohtani touches turn to history after the records he has been breaking over the years and now his historic season breaks another record but this time in the sale department.
"Shohei Ohtani made history with this baseball, and now, with the highest sale price for any ball ever sold, this legendary piece of sports memorabilia has made history again," Ken Goldin, founder and CEO of Goldin, said in a statement. "We received bids from around the world, a testament to the significance of this iconic collectible and Ohtani's impact on sports, and I'm thrilled for the winning bidder."
Clearly Ohtani will likely go down as one of the best player's in MLB history as he has been one of the most dominant players to ever play the game.
