Blue Jays manager John Schneider recently spoke to the media defending his veterans saying they might be old but they can still play.
The younger players such as Spencer Horwitz and Addison Barger seem to be getting used to MLB pitching rather quickly and they have been playing very well. Toronto's offensive problems seem to be coming from veterans such as Justin Turner, Kevin Kiermaier and George Springer that have struggling at the plate this season.
Schneider recently spoke to the media defending his vets saying that they may be old but the information the team has seems to point out that things will turn around for these older players.
«JT is 39, George is 34 and [Kiermaier] is 34,» Schneider said. «I know there's a lot of public information out there that suggests that they are on the downswing. There's a lot of information the public doesn't get, that we have, that suggests otherwise. Hopefully, that turns for them.»
Springer and Kiermaier have been awful at the plate with no sign of improving but Turner did have a great start to the season but could not get a hit in May. While Turner might still have some hope, it is hard to understand what Schneider is speaking of when it comes to the other two.
