A video has been going viral online of Los Angeles Dodgers Freddie Freeman explaining why he chooses to play for team Canada in international competition.
Despite being born in California,
Freeman has dual citizenship because both of his parents are Canadian which is why he has the option to play for team Canada or team USA in international competition.
Freddie Freeman explains that he chooses to play for team Canada because of his mother in viral video
During this video, Freeman tells the reporter that his mother passed away when he was 10 years old and part of the reason he chooses to play for team Canada is to honor her memory as she is from Peterborough, Ontario.

Freeman mentioned how many aspects of his game come from wanting to honor his mother while he plays which he explained he wears long sleeves every game because he thinks of her since she passed away from skin cancer. he also added that he wear a cross that has a lock of her hair inside to honor her as well.
Clearly Freeman sees a great importance in honoring his mother while he plays the game of baseball which shows the true great person he is even outside of baseball. Freeman is also seen in the video getting emotional when talking about his mother showing just how much she means to him.
This video explains exactly why Canadian fans are honored to have such an amazing player represent Canada even though he was born in the United States.
