The Toronto Blue Jays took on the Philadelphia Phillies this afternoon and former Blue Jays pitcher Jordan Romano took down his old teammate Orelvis Martinez by hitting with a pitch.

This is a bad time for Martinez to go down as he is currently battling for a spot in the Blue Jays lineup but hopefully the injury is not too serious and he will be able to play later in the week.

In the 7th inning of the Blue Jays game against the Phillies, Romano threw a 96MPH fastball that ended up hitting Martinez in the hip which forced him to leave the game with a hip contusion.
Orelvis Martinez exited the game against the Phillies with a left hip contusion in the 7th inning. Let's hope for a quick recovery!

Martinez was hit by a 96-mph Jordan Romano fastball
While there has been no update on Martinez just yet, it was announced that the injury was in fact a hip contusion and for the time being he is listed as day to day which is a positive.

While the severity of the injury is still not known, most believe that he will only be out for a few days with a hip contusion.
