Blue Jays announce two roster moves involving Richard Lovelady and Alek Manoah
The Blue Jays announced a couple roster moves this afternoon as left handed pitcher Richard Lovelady has been added to the Blue Jays 40 man roster while pitcher Alek Manoah has been placed on 60 day IL.
ROSTER MOVES:
LHP Richard Lovelady has been selected to the 40-man roster
RHP Alek Manoah has been placed on the 60-day IL
According to manager John Schneider the idea behind adding
Lovelady to the 40 man roster is due to all the injuries and he will now be competing for a spot on the 26 man roster.
Richard Lovelady was added to the 40-man roster, continues to compete for a spot on the 26 per John Schneider
Lovelady struggled with the Rays last season and elected for free agency which is when he agreed to a minor league contract including a Spring Training invitation with the Blue Jays.
So far in Spring Training, Lovelady has been far from stunning as he currently has a 5.17 ERA with 8 strikeouts in 7.1 innings pitched but it looks like the team is still willing to give him a chance due to all their injuries.
Due to all the ongoing injuries in the bullpen and starting rotation, Lovelady actually has a chance of making the team for Opening Day if he can put up better numbers.
