The Toronto Blue Jays have some tough decisions to make in the coming days with their final cuts and it looks like Davis Schneider is on the outside looking in.

Since the beginning of camp due to all the Blue Jays off-season acquisitions, everyone including Schneider has been aware that his spot on the team is far from secured.

Blue Jays will most likely not be keeping Davis Schneider

In a recent interview, Schneider admitted that last season was not easy for him as he struggled at the plate finishing the season with a .154 batting average which might end up causing his downfall.
«I feel like I was searching for hits last year, trying to poke stuff instead of trying to get my best swing off,» Schneider said. «I wasn't focused on doing damage. I was searching for singles and stuff like that. That's not my game. Getting on base and extra-base hits, that's where I hold value.» -Schneider

Since the Blue Jays brought in Andres Gimenez in the off-season, Schneider has been pushed to the outfield where the competition is just as fierce with George Springer, Alan Roden, Daulton Varsho, Anthony Santander and Joey Loperfido being the top options.
The battle for roster spots this spring looks different than a year ago, which can be tied directly to the arrival of Andrés Giménez. Last year, second base was a revolving door, including 33 starts for Schneider.

Now, with Giménez locked in there for 150-plus games, Schneider will need to cut it as a corner outfielder alone, perhaps providing some pop off the bench against lefties.

However, with George Springer and Anthony Santander in the corners and No. 5 prospect Alan Roden on the way, Schneider will need to hit his way to playing time. -Matheson

Schneider's top competition is likely Joey Loperfido who has also struggled offensively in the major league's but most believe he has a higher up side which is why he is placed ahead of Schneider for the time being.
Joey Loperfido could be one player Schneider is competing against and the two are roommates in spring, along with Ernie Clement. -Matheson

The best chance Schneider has of making the team is proving that his hitting has drastically improved which it has this Spring as he currently has a .333 batting average in 27 at bats.
Even though in a small sample size he does look better, he still might up in the minors or traded because he has not proven enough just yet.
