The Toronto Blue Jays decided to trade catcher Danny Jansen to the Boston Red Sox at the trade deadline, making Alejandro Kirk their main catcher moving forward.

Kirk has done a great job for the Blue Jays since the trade deadline despite the team not making the playoffs which is far from Kirk's fault, as the entire season has been a let down.
Manager John Schneider had some serious praises for Kirk after yesterday's loss stating that he has been unbelievable for the Blue Jays since the Jansen trad happened on July 30th.
«I think he's in a good rhythm,» said manager John Schneider. «His exchange in getting rid of the ball has been really, really good and his throws have been really, really accurate. So it's a pretty good recipe.»
Schneider went onto add that Kirk has been one of the best defensive catcher in the league since August 1st but did add that despite Kirk playing very well lately, there is still room for improvement.
«It's been great to see him take this opportunity and run with it and keep himself ready to go,» Schneider said. «And I think there's still progress to be made for him. It's a tough ask at that position for anyone, and he'll have to keep working in the off-season and be ready to do that from the get-go next year. But since we've since we've traded Jano, he's been arguably one of the better defensive catchers in baseball. He just did a great job of seizing the opportunity.»

It will be interesting to see what the Blue Jays decide to do in the off-season in terms of bringing in a new catcher or sticking with their current ones. Jansen will be available as he is set to become a free agent and while fans have been hoping they will re-sign him, there has been no word of this from the team.
