The New York Mets bench coach and former Toronto Blue Jays manger John Gibbons sat down with Hazel Mae yesterday prior to game 1 of the National League Championship Series.
Gibbons sat down with Hazel Mae prior to game 1 who he knows very well from his time in Toronto and spoke of how this current Mets team reminds him of the Blue Jays team he had in 2015 and 2016.
«It brings back a lot of great memories I had in 2015-16 when I was up in Toronto.»
John Gibbons chats with @thehazelmae about his return to the Championship Series.
Clearly Gibbons knows baseball as he has proven to be able to get the job done no mater where he goes even if he is still chasing that famous World Series ring as he has come close on multiple occasions.
Hopefully Gibbons is able to finally get over the hump and into the World Series after he came close back with the Blue Jays in 2016 as they lost in the ALCS.
The 2015 Blue Jays went 93-69 before falling in the ALCS while the 2016 Jays went 89-73 before losing in the same round.
All in all, Gibbons spent 11 years as the manager of the Jays over two different tenures. He was with the team from 2004-2008 and again from 2013-2018. He went 793-789, making the playoffs in just 2015 and 2016. -Farkas
