The New York Yankees begin their series against the Cleveland Guardians tomorrow night for game 1 of the National League Finals and it looks like former Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Marcus Stroman will be out once again.

Stroman was an all-star during his time in Toronto but is definitely not the same pitcher he once was despite being an all-star last season for the Chicago Cubs. This season was an average one for Stroman as he was not great but reliable for the Yankees.
Despite having a decent season, Stroman was not included in the Yankees roster for their last series against the Kansas City Royals and reports have revealed that it will be the same case against the Guardians unless there is an emergency/injury.
Veteran righty Marcus Stroman is also theoretically available to start if needed but seems likely to be used as a starter only in an emergency after being moved to the bullpen late in the regular season and being left off the ALDS roster entirely. Stroman could make the ALCS roster as a multi-inning reliever or emergency starter, though it's also possible the club could want to add another short relief arm such as Mark Leiter Jr. to their bullpen mix headed into the series. -Farkas

Marcus Stroman could seem some playing time as a relief pitcher

There is a possibility that Stroman does go in as a multiple inning relief pitcher but the chances are slim since the Yankees seem to have a good system going right now and will likely not want to alter that.
The 33 year old did not have a bad year it just was not incredible either as he finished with a 4.31 ERA and a 10-9 record in 29 starts in the 2024 season which is why fans were surprised to see him left off the roster in the post-season.
