Toronto Blue Jays shortstop Bo Bichette is entering the final year of his current contract and seems to be forcing the team to make him a massive offer with how he has been playing.
Bo Bichette forcing the Blue Jays to pay big if they want to keep him
Bichette is coming off a terrible season in 2024 where he struggled at the plate while also having a hard time staying healthy as he almost half of the season last year due to a number of injuries.
Though it's only spring training, this has been a good reminder as to how good of a player Bichette is when healthy. Injuries limited him to just 81 games last season, and his .225 batting average puts into question how healthy he was when he did suit up. At his best, he's a far more effective player. -Pankiw
This season Bichette seems to be feeling much better since he is currently on fire in Spring Training with most fans and insiders stating that he will end up being the comeback player of the year.

So far in camp, Bichette has a .359 batting average, a .395 on base percentage with 3 homeruns and 8 RBIs in 39 at bats to go along with 14 hits.
Bichette, who is set to become a free agent at the end of the season, has been tearing it up in spring training through the 14 games he's played. The 27-year-old is hitting a robust .359 with three home runs and eight RBIs through just 39 plate appearances. -Pankiw
Now with Bichette's contract coming up, if he is able to continue this pace throughout the 2025 season, the Blue Jays will be forced to offer him a sizeable contract and if they are not willing to, they might need to look to trade him at the deadline since he will bring back a big return.
