The Toronto Blue Jays are rumored to be putting a massive offer together for top free agent Juan Soto but it seems that if that falls through they have some secondary options.
The Blue Jays struggled immensely with offense this past season which is why going after a big time hitter seems to be at the top of the list for the 2025 season as free agency approaches.
The main goal seems to be signing Soto but seeing as he is going to be the top free agent on the market this off season, the Blue Jays will not be the only team gunning for him which means they have to keep their options open.

Must read on Blue Jays Insider
Hernandez, 31, slashed .272/.339/.501 with 33 home runs and 32 doubles this season with the Dodgers. Los Angeles has not engaged in any in-season contractual discussions with Hernandez or his agency, rather waiting until the offseason to handle this. -Pressnell
Next, they have Cody Bellinger in sight, who had an off year this season but did play very well for a bad Cubs team last season plus reports seem to be pointing at the fact that Bellinger will be declining his option and entering free agency this winter.
He has a player option on his contract this season, which could come into play with his availability. The rumor now is indicating that he will decline his option and head into free agency. If he declines, the Cubs will be very aggressive in trying to bring him back, just like they were last offseason when Bellinger was a free agent. -Pressnell
Finally, there is the Orioles Anthony Santander who is probably the biggest risk on the table since he is coming off of a career year in Baltimore with 40 homeruns which means he will be attracting some large contract but most insiders feel that Santander will never reach these numbers again.
