As fans know, after the disappointment of losing the blockbuster signing of Shoei Ohtani, the Blue Jays were quiet in the offseason, not making any big moves to improve the team significantly. The Jays will need their bats to return to form this season if they are planning to make a playoff run.

Blue Jays need bats to return to form this year
Despite a dip in offensive production, The Blue Jays had a pretty solid year in 2023, the pitching had a lot to do with it of course, ranking in the top ten in pitching statistics in virtually all categories. After grabbing the final playoff spot, bats were quiet against the Minnesota Twins who swept them in the Wild Card round.
The Jays bats need to return to form, similar to the 2022 season in order for them to have any chance. They made some changes by adding former Dodgers manager Don Mattingly hoping he can spread some of his insight and approach to professional hitting and driving in runners when the opportunity arises. The Blue Jays ranked an abysmal 20th in the league with runners in scoring position. An area of concern is the mindset going into the season by manager John Schneider as well.
«The mindset is just more excitement,» Excitement for guys to get back to their norms a little bit offensively. Excitement for the pitching staff to do what they've done and find out ways to get better.» - Schneider

Adding Justin Turner is a solid Aquisition, where he will most likely hit behind Vladdy in the middle of the order. But It is going to take more than optimism and excitement to bring back the offensive production this year. Bats need to wake up!
