New York Yankees outfielder Juan Soto is on track to become a free agent after this season, and it seems he's aiming for a massive max contract similar to superstar, Shohei Ohtani's.

Report: Juan Soto wants Ohtani-size deal in free agency
Ohtani secured a monumental and record breaking 10-year, $700-million deal with the Los Angeles Dodgers in December of last year. the deal has been organized where $68 million dollars will be deferred annually. His Anual Average Annual Value (AAV) for competitive balance tax purposes tallies at $46,076,768.
Scott Boras, baseball super agent and the one representing Soto are anticipated to seek a contract starting at $500 million. The 25-year-old Soto, who posted impressive stats of .417/.517/.583 in his initial six games with the Yankees, is slated to explore free agency. General manager Brian Cashman acknowledged the likelihood of Soto becoming a free agent.
"We recognized when we went into this situation that the odds are that it's a one-year situation before free agency, "Certainly, that can change, I guess, but the odds are certainly against that. He's this close to free agency. I don't see too many things stopping him from hitting free agency." - Cashman

Soto notably declined a lucrative 15-year, $440-million extension from the Washington Nationals in 2022. Following his rejection of the offer, the Nationals traded him to the San Diego Padres. Subsequently, the Padres traded Soto to the Yankees last December after his one-and-a-half-season stint with the club.
