Right-hander Clay Holmes and the New York Mets are in agreement on a three-year, $38 million contract with an opt-out after the second year, sources tell ESPN. Mets plan to turn Holmes, who has spent his big league career as a RP, into a starter. On the news: @Joelsherman1.
Despite being a relief pitcher for the majority of his career there are reports that the Mets might use Holmes as a starting pitcher next year most likely depending on who they sign this off-season.

Holmes is coming off a great season with the Yankees in which he helped them reach the World Series and was one of the best relief pitcher in free agency this winter.
It will be interesting to see if the Mets use Holmes as a starter next season and how it ends up doing.
