Toronto Blue Jays veteran pitcher Chris Bassitt recently opened up about taking matters into his own hands to fix the team's clubhouse culture which was not great.

Jose Berrios recently stated that the Blue Jays clubhouse was in poor shape last year when it came to the relationship between the coaches and the players which he added has since been solved.

Chris Bassitt helped change the Blue Jays clubhouse culture this season

During a recent interview, Bassitt spoke to Shi Davidi about how the team last year was weirdly set up in the clubhouse as all pitchers sat together and all position players sat together which he stated he had never seen before.
«This was the only clubhouse I've been in that didn't have» players from different parts of the team mixed together in their locker assignments, said the veteran right-hander." -Bassitt

Bassitt thought that keeping things this way was bad for the team which is why he spoke with manager John Schneider this spring about mixing things up in the locker room and making sure it was different.
To that end, Bassitt suggested a wide-scale clubhouse reset to a few of his teammates during the off-season, they fully endorsed the idea and then they took it to manager John Schneider, who «was all for it, he loved it.» While the spring training locker-room in Dunedin, Fla., was almost totally split by player group, once they arrived in Toronto, the alignment was completely different. -Davidi

The Blue Jays veteran spoke to multiple players including Bo Bichette before going to Schneider with the idea which it looks like everyone was on board with as they thought it could only help.
«Bassitt called me and asked me my opinion on it and I was on board with it,» said Bo Bichette. «It seems like a small thing and it might be a small thing. But just to get everybody talking, get everybody on the same page instead of having, I guess, departments, it'll be good for the team to get to know each other in every part.» -Bichette

Hopefully Bassitt was right and fans will see a different team out their this season as their culture in the clubhouse will be better and their will be an open line of communication.
