After All-Star first-baseman, Pete Alonso was dropped down in the lineup for the first timer since the 2020 season, he had some strong, emotional words for the media.
"I'm on pace for close to 40 homers, I was an All-Star this year, to beat myself up or be frustrated - it's really no use. I'm really excited for the end of the year where we get to play winning baseball. I'm happy with what I've accomplished this year so far"
Mets Manager, Carlos Mendoza had slugger and All-Star Pete Alonso batting in the bottom half of the lineup after he has been struggling at the dish, and with a tight wild card race in the works for the team he felt that he needed to shake things up.
"I want to win, and I trust (manager Carlos Mendoza) to run out the best lineup every single day. If that's what he thinks that's going to help us win, I'm all for it," Alonso told reporters Monday
