The New York Mets are currently taking on the Philadelphia Phillies in the American League Division Series with former Blue Jays manager John Gibbons by their side.

The Blue Jays decided to move on from manager John Gibbons in 2018 after he brought them to back to back American League Finals in 2015 and 2016 which they have failed to do since despite being on their second manager since Gibbons was fired.
After taking some time off, Gibbons decided to return to the MLB as the New York Mets bench coach and has brought his magic with him as he helped the Mets achieve the ALDS after no even making the playoffs last year.

The Mets hired former Blue Jays manager John Gibbons to be their bench coach ahead of this season. Blue Jays fans will recall that it was Gibby, in his second stint as Toronto's manager, who led the Jays to back-to-back American League Championship Series in 2015 and 2016. That marked their first postseason return since winning back-to-back World Series championships in 1992 and 1993.- Kime

Despite finishing with a similar record to the one they had in 2018 as they finished 73-89 which resulted in Gibbons being fired yet the Blue Jays this season to fire almost everyone on the coaching staff except for manager John Schneider.
Regardless of that, Gibbons is not concerned with the Blue Jays current situation as he is in the ALDS tied with the Phillies at one a piece.
