The Toronto Blue Jays have apparently made Vladimir Guerrero Jr a new offer but they are still far apart on a final number as his asking price has gone up once again.
Vladimir Guerrero Jr's asking price for contract extension has gone up once again
Before Spring Training,
Guerrero was looking for a contract of around $450 million but the Blue Jays would not budge and now the price has gone up a few times as it just did once again.
According to reports, Guerrero is now looking for a contract with a total value of about $560 million on a 14-15 year term which is $100 million more than he was looking for a few months ago.
Sources: #BlueJays latest contract to Vlad Jr. is still below the $40 mil AAV he is looking for. I'm told Vlad is seeking a 14yr deal worth $560 mil. #BlueJays latest offer was 12yr deal worth $450 mil ($37.5 mil AAV), at that AAV would make him the 3rd highest paid player on an annual basis behind Soto and Ohtani. #MoccBomb
If reports are correct, the Blue Jays are not looking to up their offer to somewhere between $550-$600 million to try and keep Guerrero in Toronto for the rest of his career.
SOURCE: The Blue Jays' offer would be in the range of 14-15 years and $550-600 million.
While the Blue Jays seem to continuously being going up with their contract offers, Guerrero seems to be asking for more and more money every time which makes it seem like he is not that interested in returning to Toronto.
At this point it seems more likely that Guerrero will end up going into free agency next off-season.
