The Blue Jays and Cardinals are in trade talks for closer Ryan Helsley
The Cardinals have made it pretty clear that they are looking to retool this off-season and start a rebuild which is why they have made so many of their current players available for trades.
According to MLB insider Mark Feinsand, the Blue Jays and Arizona Diamondbacks are two teams that seem to be very interested in trading for all-star closer Ryan Helsley.
«St. Louis has received interest from the Blue Jays and D-backs in trading for All-Star closer Ryan Helsley»
Per @Feinsand
Last year Helsley was exceptional. He posted a 2.04 ERA, 1.10 WHIP, and 49 Saves
Helsley is a two-time all-star for the Cardinals and was voted onto the All-MLB first this year while also winning the National League reliever of the year award which is why he will get the Cardinals a solid return.
If the Blue Jays are serious about trading for Helsley, they will need to package a few very solid prospects as he will not come cheap with the resume he has.
Last season with the Cardinals, Helsley put up an incredible 2.04 ERA with 49 saves and 79 strikeouts in 66.1 innings pitched.
