The Toronto Blue Jays are looking to bring in some offense this winter which is why they are rumored to be interested in free agent Pete Alonso.

The Blue Jays need to desperately bring in some offense for next season since having only Vladimir Guerrero Jr as their only big hitter will make it impossible for them to win games and make the playoffs.

The Blue Jays projected contract for Pete Alonso has been announced

According to reports, the Blue Jays are very interested in free agent first baseman Pete Alonso after coming off a great year in New York with 34 homeruns, 88 RBIs, a .240 batting average and .329 on base percentage.
Alonso became a free agent this winter as he decided to decline the New York Mets qualifying offer which was a one year contract worth $21.05 million which made him a free agent.
The Blue Jays have interest in signing Alonso but they have to be ready to pay to get him since he is expected to sign for more than $150 million on somewhere around a 4-5 year term.
With Scott Boras representing Alonso as his agent, following a big postseason, the 30-year-old should net north of $150 million this offseason. Alonso's future with the Mets leads a laundry list of players that are set to become available on the open market, here are the pros and cons of bringing back each player and some of the others with contract options -Tredinnick

This means the Blue Jays have to be willing to give Alonso between $30-$40 million per season to see him sign in Toronto which is also double what they said they are willing to pay for a hitter per season.
If the Blue Jays do close of Alonso it could benefit their infield issue as well as Vladimir Guerrero would move over to third base and Ernie Clement would move to second base next season.
It will be interesting to see if the Blue Jays can get a deal done with Alonso and if so, how much will they sign him for.
