The Toronto Blue Jays have been named as the dark horse to land free agent Juan Soto this off-season but it looks like they might get pushed out of the race due to the size of the contract.
Soto has had an unbelievable season with the New York Yankees and he is set to sign an unbelievable contract this winter that many believe will surpass $50 million per season.
The Blue Jays might be getting pushed out of Juan Soto sweepstakes
The Blue Jays have mentioned on multiple occasions that they want to bring in some big hitters to help out their struggling offense which is why they have been rumored to be putting a deal together to offer Soto during free agency.
The actual length of the term wasn't brought up, but with Soto likely looking for 10+ years to lead him right into his twilight years, we are practically approaching Shohei Ohtani territory and possibly more. If that is the case, then it means bad news for the Jays. With an insane contract prediction like that, it could put Toronto out of the running before things have even started. -Eng
The good part if this is true is that general manager Ross Atkins could focus on other players that the Blue Jays want to bring in and he can avoiding the same mistake he made last year in putting all of his energy on 1 player to end up with nothing.
