In the past, Bo Bichette has shown some interest in continuing his career with the Blue Jays alongside Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Since they've already reached a multi-year agreement once, it'll be worth watching how any upcoming contract talks develop throughout the season.

Toronto Blue Jays All-Star Bo Bichette has started the 2025 season strong, serving as a clear reminder of his impressive talent and why management should sign him to an extension.

General manager Ross Atkins has indicated that signing the star shortstop to an extension is the team's next priority.
Kenneth Teape from Toronto Blue Jays On Si writes that Bichette, a two-time All-Star, is currently in the final year of a three-year, $33 million deal that covered his arbitration seasons. The 2024 season, the middle year of that contract, proved especially difficult as he landed on the injured list three different times.
"That led to the least productive season of his career with a .225/.277/.322 slash line. A player who had previously never had an OPS under .802 or OPS+ under 121 put up numbers of .598 and 70 that year." -Teape

However, early in the 2025 season, he's already showing flashes of the talent that made him a standout.
Over his first 14 games and 66 plate appearances, Bichette is slashing .288/.348/.356 with four doubles. While he has yet to hit a home run, his knack for making solid contact is clearly evident.
"He has already recorded five mulit-hit games in 2025, including three occasions of 3+ hits in a single outing; that is as many as he had in 81 games last year." -Teape

Teape also writes that according to Jared Greenspan of MLB.com, Bichette's expected batting average (xBA) sits at .353, placing him in the 97th percentile across the league. That suggests his stats could trend upward as he starts to benefit from better luck at the plate.
That's great news for Toronto, especially with the momentum from Guerrero Jr.'s extension. If Bichette continues to regain form, the Blue Jays should remain firmly in the hunt for the American League East throughout the season.
