It appears the tide is turning for this Blue Jays offseason has the organization appears to be hitting some home runs on a few free agents, and pundits are identifying Bo Bichette and Pete Alonso as two players that will make the Blue Jays a true contender.
"If they get [Pete Alonso], you can start to dream a little bit about this team. I think it's a great fit." - @StevePhillipsGM on the Blue Jays
They also reveal that the signing of Max Scherzer could help bolster the Blue Jays case for players like Alonso an Alex Bregman who are both connected to the Blue Jays during this latest round of free agency.
This Blue Jays season is at a crossroads before it begins
"Max Scherzer is 40. He doesn't just want to hang out in Toronto and play baseball. The clock is ticking, he's got to take a run at a championship here. He has to believe that there's something worth chasing in Toronto. Yes, money's always a factor, probably the big factor, but he needs to believe there is potential in Toronto and the Blue Jays do feel that one piece away."- Keegan Matheson
If both Alonso and Bregman join the Blue Jays, we're winning the World Series.
This coming season seems to be a crossroad for the Blue Jays organization as the team could go on a serious run for several years if they can find a way to lock in Alonso and retain Bichette, Guerrero Jr and potentially land Bregman.
Scherzer could help bolster Blue Jays lineup with his signing
The Blue Jays already landed a big piece of this new core in Anthony Santander as he will give the Blue Jays more offense in their bats and help them content for the American League East division.
"Anthony Santander was a big upgrade for their lineup, but if they, using Pete Alonso as an example, add another big bat, suddenly this offense would be winning games too. If they can add a little more power and they've needed power for years since that incredible 2021 team, they haven't found it again but they're one bat away. If you get another big bat in there and Bo Bichette bounces back suddenly this is a pretty exciting team." Keegan Matheson
«It is viewed around the industry that Pete Alonso does not want to go to the Blue Jays otherwise he would've signed the contract already and really he just wants to go back to the Mets,» says - @ragazzoreport on WFAN.
These past few weeks have certainly been positive for the Blue Jays organization as it was all doom and gloom earlier on this winter when the Blue Jays continued to strike out on key elite free agents.
With Rogers Communications willing to spend the money, general manager Ross Atkins is trying to make the case to land those remaining free agents who will help the Blue Jays in the long run.
