The Blue Jays have quite a few infielders on their current 40 man roster but none of them they see fitting on their team for the 2025 season due to their poor defensive skills which is why Ross Atkins has been looking a second baseman.
Blue Jays Davis Schneider and other players might be traded this off-season due to plans to bring in a new second baseman
However, despite that infield logjam, we've already heard that general manager Ross Atkins expressed interest in free agent second baseman Gleyber Torres as well as middle infielder Ha-Seong Kim at the recent GM Meetings in San Antonio.
Both Torres and Kim are right-handed hitters, as are five of the players already on Toronto's 40-man roster who spent time as middle infielders in 2024. -Kime
Unfortunately this means that they will likely have to make some room if they end up signing a second baseman which means that Davis Schneider, Spencer Horwitz, Will Wagner and Lee Jimenez could all possibly be moved.
Assuming the Blue Jays sign a top free agent like Kim to play second, that immediately makes players rostered on the 40-man, including Horwitz, Schneider, Wagner and Jimenez, expendable. Martinez and Barger could be added to that list as well, as could minor league prospects Paulino and Pinto. -Kime
Since all of these players have major league experience and have the potential to be everyday players, the Blue Jays should be able to get a decent return for them to help fill holes on their roster such as the bullpen.
