The Mariners could be interested in trading for Blue Jays Vladimir Guerrero Jr
The Mariners are coming off a decent season but just missed the playoffs in 2024 as the Detroit Tigers ended up stealing the final Wild Card spot and took full advantage as they went much deeper than anyone expected.
As Seattle looks to bring in some key pieces this off-season to help their team get back into the playoffs, Guerrero seems to be at the top of their list as they were reportedly very interested in him at the trade deadline.
We know that Dipoto was interested in Guerrero at the trade deadline, but who knows how far those conversations got. The price might be hard for Seattle to swallow and could end up being the only major move made this offseason. -Vogt
Guerrero would be a perfect fit for the Mariners that are desperately in need of a full time first baseman which is why bringing in someone like Guerrero that can also hit could be a massive move for them.
The soon-to-be 26-year-old is the single best player the Mariners could realistically acquire this offseason, and he just so happens to fill a pretty big hole. Guerrero Jr. would instantly slot in as the everyday first baseman, allowing Luke Raley to DH, or rotate in as the fourth outfielder and become the best run producer in the middle of the lineup. -Vogt
On the other side of things, if the Blue Jays were to actually trade Guerrero, the Mariners would be have to be willing to make a massive offer that can turn the Blue Jays organization around.
Blue Jays fans would prefer to see the team sign him to a long term extension but if they are able to get an incredible return, they might end up being alright with the deal.
