The Toronto Blue Jays are looking to make big changes to their bullpen this off-season as they will likely be many players DFA'd as they have 16 players on their 40 man roster as of right now.
Blue Jays looking to clean up bullpen as they have 16 relief pitchers on 40 man roster
The biggest lock in terms of relief pitchers that will be returning is Chad Green who had a great 2024 season becoming the Blue Jays main closer in the second half of the year.
Last season, Green finished with a 3.21 ERA and a 4.29 FIP in 53.1 innings pitched, along with a 21.9 K% and a 6.7 BB% with 17 saves in 20 opportunities. Before the injuries and trades, Green also picked up seven holds. -Delaney
Jordan Romano is not necessarily a lock due to injuries but if he ends up making a full recovery, he will likely be back next season despite having a rougher season in 2024.
When healthy, Romano had a 6.59 ERA and a 6.17 FIP in 13.2 innings pitched, along with a 21 K% and a 6.5 BB%. it wasn't a bad start to his season, but over his final five appearances, he gave up six earned runs in 3 innings pitched. -Delaney
The other Blue Jays pitchers that should be back next season are Ryan Burr, Erik Swanson and Genesis Cabrera who proved that can be useful to the Blue Jays bullpen in 2025.
However, even if the Blue Jays end up keeping all of these pitchers, that still leave Brendon Little, Hagen Danner, Brandon Eisert, Nick Robertson, Dillon Tate, Tommy Nance, Easton Lucas, Emmanuel Ramirez, Zach Pop, Luis Frias and Brett de Geus that the Blue Jays need to look at.
