The Blue Jays have multiple players such as Alejandro Kirk, Daulton Varsho and Alek Manoah who are arbitration eligible
The Blue Jays already have a ton of issues to deal with this off-season and ideally, they need to avoid arbitration with all these players as they cannot afford to waste more time than they already have this off-season.
Must read on Blue Jays Insider
The Blue currently have 7 players that are arbitration eligible which includes Vladimir Guerrero Jr, Daulton Varsho, Ernie Clement, Alek Manoah , Alejandro Kirk, Zach Pop and Nick Sandlin.
Like all arbitration-eligible players, Guerrero Jr. has until 1 p.m. ET on Thursday to avoid arbitration with his team. Also eligible for the Blue Jays are Daulton Varsho, Alejandro Kirk, Alek Manoah, Zach Pop, Ernie Clement and the newly acquired Nick Sandlin. -Sportsnet
The Blue Jays are not at risk of losing any of these players but if they do not agree to a number before the deadline, they will head into arbitration which three independent arbitrators and both parties will argue their case and number for the contract.
Each of these players will be under contract next year, its just a question of at what number. If the two sides reach an agreement before 1 p.m. ET on Thursday, there is no trial, but if not, they'll go to trial, which can potentially create ill-feelings for the player. -Farkas
Sportac projects that
Guerrero will land the largest contract out of the group with a salary of $28.8 million while Nick Sandlin, Alek Manoah and Ernie Clement will earn the least somewhere between $1-$2.5 million.
Spotrac.com projects that Guerrero Jr. will make $28.8 million in arbitration, while they project Varsho for $8 million. He just won the American League Gold Glove Award in center field. Kirk, a former All-Star, will make $4 million while Clement, Manoah, Pop and Sandlin will each make between $1-2.5 million. -Farkas
