The Toronto Blue Jays are desperately looking for a plan to keep Vladimir Guerrero Jr which seems to involve spending even more money this off-season.

Guerrero recently told the Blue Jays front-office exactly how much he is looking for this off-season but for some reason Toronto is looking for ways to keep him but avoid paying his full price.

The Blue Jays have a plan to try and keep Vladimir Guerrero Jr without giving him how much he wants in next contract

The Blue Jays know the exact price for Vladimir Guerrero Jr but rather think up different strategies to land him instead of paying the man what he is worth which seems like a strange approach but then again Ross Atkins has never done things normally.
MLB insider Tim Kelly believes the Blue Jays are making such a massive push on free agent pitcher Corbin Burnes for two reasons, the first being that they are in need of a starting pitcher but the second is that he believes the Blue Jays want to add Burnes to help keep Guerrero at a cheaper price.
Adding Burnes would be a good way to help with that and Bleacher Report's Tim Kelly listed the Blue Jays as No. 2 on his list of top landing spots for the All-Star while citing a move as a way to keep Guerrero around. -McAvoy

"One way to convince Guerrero to stay might be to sign another star to a long-term contract, and Burnes would fit that bill," Kelly said. "He could headline Toronto's rotation, which also includes Kevin Gausman, Bowden Francis, José Berros and Chris Bassitt. That would be a very loaded rotation, perhaps so deep that the Blue Jays could move either Gausman or Bassitt for another piece(s) to help their roster in 2025. -Kelly

Hopefully this situation works for the Blue Jays as they would be able to add an ace for the next 7 years while also being able to keep their best player on a cheaper deal.
Unfortunately the chances of this happening are slim to none as Guerrero is looking to get paid but he is worth but it looks like Atkins is worth giving it a choice.
