Blue Jays general manager is in hot water once again as he recently spoke to the media and was asked why the Jays have not brought up more prospects from Triple-A even though they seem ready.

While the Blue Jays have been struggling this season, the Bisons have been having a solid season with a lot of prospects showing up. Despite their success with the Bisons, Addison Barger, Spencer Horwitz, and Orelvis Martinez have yet to becalled up by the Jays apart from Barger for a very short stint.
Atkins spoke of Martinez saying that he needs to get better at second base before being brought up. However, the Blue Jays GM contradicted himself by saying Martinez needs to get better at second base since he also said they wouldn't know where to put him if he was brought up. If it was only a question of his fielding, why would they not know where to put him once he got better?
«It's a combination of where he would play here, him learning to play second at a level that would be average to above (average) and the benefit of player development and that time for a 22-year-old,» Atkins said. «Those three things are what is keeping him in Triple-A at this point.»

Regarding Horowitz, Atkins said that there could be some potential for him to replace Vogelbach but he believes he is better off in Triple-A get consistent action that being in the Majors in and out of the lineup.
The question many have been wondering is why neither of these players are getting a shot as DH when the Jays have been struggling there immensely lately. Horowitz has a .447 OBP in 43 games which ranks 6th in the league while Martinez has 11 home runs and a .270 ISO so far this season.
While there is some logic to all of this, it is still hard to believe the Blue Jays don't want to even a small shot to a few of their major prospects in the MLB.
