The Blue Jays are apparently willing to make a massive offer to pitcher Corbin Burnes
Burnes is coming off an incredible season inn 2024 with the Baltimore Orioles and now that Blake Snell has signed with the Los Angeles Dodgers, Burnes is the best free agent pitcher on the market.
MLB insider Andy McCullough believes that Burnes would be a great fit in Toronto but they need to be ready to may him some serious money as he is projected to sign a 7 year deal worth $247 million.
On Friday, Andy McCullough of The Athletic predicted that the Blue Jays would sign four-time All-Star starting pitcher Corbin Burnes. McCullough's cohort Jim Bowden projected Burnes for a seven-year, $247 contract earlier this fall. -Roberts
McCullough believes that Burnes could be a huge part of the Blue Jays future as he is only 30 years old and is in his prime which is why a 7 year deal is worth especially if he continues to improve.
"Burnes could anchor Toronto's rotation in 2025 and beyond. Chris Bassitt can enter free agency after this season. Kevin Gausman can do the same after 2026. And José Berros could opt out of his contract after 2026, too."
The other option would be going after Max Fried who is another incredible pitcher that is available and would cost at least $50 million less than Burnes but regardless of who they go after, the Blue Jays need a starting pitcher.
