The Toronto Blue Jays are in desperate need of a main closer for the 2025 season as they let go of Jordan Romano and it looks like Clay Holmes might be an option.
The Blue Jays decided to non-tender Jordan Romano last week which left many fans in shock but after a tough 2024 season and many issues in his injury recovery, the Blue Jays felt it was time to move on.

Holmes had a great season in 2024 and emerged as the New York Yankees main closer at he helped them reach the World Series but unfortunately lost to the Los Angeles Dodgers.
The former Yankees relief pitcher could be a huge help for the Blue Jays bullpen which was the worst in MLB last season and they are in need of a new closer.
Clay Holmes has made an impressive leap in his career, transforming from a middle reliever with a disappointing career ERA exceeding 5.00 in 2021 to a formidable closer for the New York Yankees. Since donning the iconic pinstripes, Holmes has amassed an impressive 74 career saves while posting a stellar 2.69 ERA, establishing himself as a dependable presence on the mound during high-pressure situations. Although the 2024 season presented its challenges, with Holmes grappling with fluctuations in his performance and coming perilously close to losing his coveted closer role, he showcased his resilience by bouncing back in the postseason.
