The Los Angeles Angels announced the first big signing of free agency this afternoon as they signed catcher Travis d'Arnaud to a two year deal.
The Blue Jays have been in need of a catcher despite general manager Ross Atkins stating that he is happy with their current duo of Alejandro Kirk and Tyler Heineman for the 2025 season.
The Los Angeles Angels signed catcher Travis d'Arnaud to a two year deal
The Angels and d'Arnaud agreed to a two year deal with the former Braves catcher worth $12 million which is looking like a steal for the moment when looking at his career numbers at the plate plus the fact that he is a World Series Champion.

OFFICIAL: The Angels have agreed to a two-year contract with C Travis d'Arnaud.
This would have been a great signing for the Blue Jays as d'Arnaud has a ton of experience and would be a great duo with Kirk which would have also brought them a bit of depth in a position they have so little in.
The size of the contract would have also been great since they would be bringing in a solid and experienced catcher on a small term for not much money.
Unfortunately, d'Arnaud will likely not be the only catcher the Blue Jays miss out on as Atkins has no plan on bringing in another catcher even though the market has a few solid ones.
Hopefully this decision will not end up costing the Blue Jays down the line.
