Former Toronto Blue Jays player Teoscar Hernandez just signed a new deal with the Los Angeles Dodgers and it look like he used the New York Mets to do it.

Hernandez attracted all kinds of attention during free agency from the Toronto Blue Jays to the Boston Red Sox and New York Mets but ended up returning to the Los Angeles Dodgers for three more years.

Despite multiple rumors of Hernandez heading back to Toronto this off-season, he ended up signing a three year deal worth $66 million with the Dodgers which will pay him $22 million per season.
According to reports, the Mets made Hernandez a sizeable offer on a two year deal to try and pair him with Juan Soto but he used that offer and went back to the Dodgers to raise the price of his contract.

It would've been a big plus for the lineup - and maybe put Brandon Nimmo back in center? - in their effort to add around Juan Soto.
Hernandez did the smart move here as he used an opposing offer to his advantage to return to the team that he stated was his number one choice in free agency.
Fans in Toronto are still heartbroken to not see him headed back to the Rogers Centre but with the current state of the Blue Jays organization, most fans understand he would prefer go back to the team he just won a World Series win.
As Hernandez just inked his new deal, the Blue Jays are still searching for a new hitter to bring in but the market is looking quite depleted these days.
The Blue Jays final chance at bringing in a solid hitter this off-season relies on if Ross Atkins can close a deal with outfielder Anthony Santander.
