The Toronto Blue Jays are still in need of a starting pitcher to add to their rotation and a possible trade could take place with the Arizona Diamondbacks for Jordan Montgomery.
Proposed trade mentioned between the Blue Jays and Diamondbacks for Jordan Montgomery
After news broke this morning of Burnes signing in Arizona, MLB insider Josh Goldberg stated he thinks the Blue Jays could make a play for pitcher Jordan Montgomery.

Goldberg did add that the Blue Jays would likely only be interested if Arizona would be willing to eat a portion of his $22.5 million salary for the 2025 season.
could very much see the Blue Jays being interested in Jordan Montgomery if Arizona eats some of $22.5M he's owed in 2025...
Montgomery would be a solid option for the Blue Jays especially if they can get the Diamondbacks to eat up some of his salary.
The 30 year old pitcher is coming off one of the worst years of his career in 2024 as he finished with a 6.23 ERA in 117 innings pitched but had 3 years in a row with an ERA below 4.00 prior to that.
If the Blue Jays are willing to take a slight risk, Montgomery could be a solid back up option for them heading into the 2025 season.
Toronto clearly needs to start thinking outside the box as all the top pitchers have now signed and they still desperately need a pitcher to add to their rotation for next season.
Hopefully Atkins is able to pull off a solid trade to bring in a great starting pitcher but if not,
Montgomery would not be a bad option.
