Former Toronto Blue Jays ace Marcus Stroman was offered to the St Louis Cardinals in exchange for third baseman Nolan Arenado but it was rejected.

The Cardinals have made it clear that they are in the process of a rebuild which is why they have basically made all of their players available including closer Ryan Helsley who has been getting a ton of interest and Nolan Arenado.

According to a recent report by MLB insider Mark Feinsand, the New York Yankees offered the Cardinals pitcher Marcus Stroman in exchange for third baseman Nolan Arenado but St Louis rejected the offer.
Earlier this offseason, the Cardinals declined an offer from the Yankees that could've sent Marcus Stroman to St. Louis for Nolan Arenado, according to a report from Mark Feinsand, John Denton and Bryan Hoch of MLB.com. It's unknown whether Arenado would have approved that trade. MLB.com reports that the Cardinals never brought it to the star third baseman because they were uninterested in acquiring Stroman. -Franco

Stroman had a tough 2024 season in New York finished with a 10-9 record, 4.31 ERA with 113 strikeouts in 154.2 innings pitched which is the first time since 2018 that his ERA was above 4.00.
On top of the tough season, the Yankees made it all the way to the World Series this year, losing to the Los Angeles Dodgers but Stroman did not see much playing time as he did not take the mound in a single game during their run.
The Blue Jays former ace was dealt to the New York Mets back in 2019 and put together a few good seasons between the Cubs and Mets but saw a pretty big decline this season.
As the Yankees have been so busy this off-season, there is a good chance they decide to move on from him even if the return is not big since having him in their rotation will only hold them back.
