Baseball Hall-of-Famer David Ortiz gave some strong but much needed advice to his former Boston Red Sox teammate Mookie Betts amidst his offensive struggles in the postseason.
On the recent "MLB on FOX" show, the stud casted crew shared their collective thoughts and comments on what they believe may be causing Betts to struggle terribly at the plate, but, David Ortiz offered him some encouraging words.
"Mook-dawg, listen to your boy right here." David Ortiz has some advice for Mookie to get him out of his slump
Mookie, if I were your hitting coach right now, I would be telling you not worry about anything mechanically, i would worry about putting that smile, that you put on your face, the smile that you use to piss off the competition. That smile mean you are having fun, and when you are having fun and playing the game, everything comes natural to you." - David Ortiz
Essentially what his former teammate and friend is saying is that, Mookie Bett's best asset is not his swing, it's not his power and speed, but the heart, joy and love he has for the game of baseball. and when he plays baseball without worry, and just has fun and has a big smile on his face, everything else works its self out and right now, that all he needs to do to turn around his game.
