The Mariners made headlines last night as they placed first baseman Ty France on outright waivers.

The former all-star has been struggling this season at the plate which is why the Mariners put him on waivers but it is a surprising move since they have players performing even worse than he is.
Probably doesn't make sense for the Jays if they're trying to get under the tax, but maybe if he's a free agent?
France has a .223 batting average, .312 OBP and .662 OPS this season which is not great but maybe a change of scenery could make a big difference. Just 2 years ago, France was an MLB all-star meaning he still has some baseball left in him.
This might be an interesting situation for the Blue Jays to look into if they are looking to add some batting power, the risk comes from needing him to step up his game once he arrives.
