The Toronto Blue Jays have some serious questions heading into the 2025 season regarding contract extensions especially with Vladimir Guerrero and Bo Bichette.

As the Blue Jays get ready for the free agency, thhe will need to know if they are re-sign Guerrero as he is headed for the final year of his contract and many high end free agents will want to know if he is staying and what the team's plan for the future is.
This question hangs over every inch of the Blue Jays' offseason. When the club speaks to free agents, it's going to be one of the players' first questions, too. That's important.- Matheson

Guerrero has made it clear that he wants to stay in Toronto and would like to be a Blue Jay for life but when Mark Shapiro and Ross Atkins were asked about the superstar re-signing at the end of the year press conference, they seemed to be unsure.
The Blue Jays will also need to figure out what they are doing with shortstop Bo Bichette who is coming off a terrible season filled with injuries as he will be entering the final year of his contract as well. There has been a ton of rumors that he will be traded but the smart decision would be for the team to figure out their plan for him before free agency opens so that they can go after a shortstop if they need.
A year ago, it felt like Bichette was the «sure thing,» reliable year-to-year and easy to project. That's changed this year, and while trade talks will bubble up again this offseason, the Blue Jays' best chance at competing in 2025 is with Bichette bouncing back in their lineup. It's '26 and beyond that feels far less certain. -Matheson

Figuring out what the plan is for Bichette and Guerrero must be at the top of the priority list for the Blue Jays as they cannot go into free agency without a clear plan in mind of they will end up with another disappointing season on their hands.
