The Los Angeles Dodgers have been taking a ton of heat online after details of pitcher Blake Snell's contract has been announced with more money being deferred.

The Dodgers announced late last night that they signed free agent pitcher Blake Snell to a 5 year deal worth $182 million which also includes a $52 million signing bonus.

The details of Snell's contract were released this morning in which it was confirmed that between the $52 million signing bonus and the #13 per year in deferrals, Snell's contract ends up only being $36.4 million per season.
Blake Snell's $52M signing bonus and $13M/year in deferrals ($65M total) in $182M deal balances out so contract value remains $36.4M. But since bonus doesn't count against CBT number, it's only about $32M-$33M on Dodgers CBT ledger.
Fans have been making there way online to point out how the Dodgers prior to signings Snell already had over $900 million in deferred contracts and it has now gone up wit this most recent signing.
The Dodgers have Mookie Betts at $115 million deferred, Freddie Freeman at $57 million deferred, Will Smith at $50 million deferred and Shohei Ohtani at $680 million deferred.
mookie betts - 115m deferred
freddie freeman - 57m deferred
will smith - 50m deferred
shohei ohtani - 680m deferred

over 900 million dollars in deferred contracts before blake snell even signs.

this is NOT okay for the sport of baseball regardless of who you cheer for.

Fans are not happy that the Dodgers are able to get away with this and believe that it ruins the game of baseball by allowing this to happen.
The Dodgers now have $960 million of deferred contracts on the books which is why they are able to continuously go after big time players.

Should there be an MLB rule to prevent teams from doing what the Dodgers are doing with these contracts?
