St Louis Cardinals 8 time all-star third baseman Nolan Arenado has been placed on the trade block and apparently rejected a trade to the Houston Astros yesterday.

The Cardinals announced at the start of the off-season that they are looking for a fresh start which is why they are listening to offers on the majority of their players including Nolan Arenado.

According to reports, The Cardinals had a trade in place with the Astros for third baseman Nolan Arenado but it looks like Arenado rejected the trade which he is allowed to do due to the no-trade clause in his contract.
Instead, according to multiple league sources, Arenado declined to waive his no-trade clause, preferring not to make a decision this early in the offseason. That decision, first reported by MLB.com on Wednesday, is not final, and the Cardinals and Astros will continue conversations. It is unclear whether the Astros will continue heavily pursuing Arenado or pivot to other options. -Woo

Apparently Arenado was no willing to waiver no his no-trade clause this early into the off-season likely because he is hoping that other teams will come calling in the coming weeks.
There has been no update on what the return for Arenado was since the trade was declined but it looks like Astros will continue to pursue their former third baseman Alex Bregman since they won't be able to bring in Arenado.
The Astros' pursuit of Bregman had not changed in the wake of Kyle Tucker's trade to the Chicago Cubs, according to Astros general manager Dana Brown. -Woo

A few teams have shown interest in Arenado including the Toronto Blue Jays but the tough part is, similar to Cody Bellinger, Arenado is on a massive contract and will game being on the decline some teams find it to be a little too much.
There is a good chance that if the Cardinals end up being able to move Arenado this off-season they will either have to retain a portion of his contract of give the acquiring team so money in the trade.
