Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Bowden Francis has a ton of pressure on him heading into the 2025 season as expectations are at an all-time high after how last season ended.
The Blue Jays starting rotation had a ton of issues during the 2024 season which is why the team is expecting to look into some off-season signings but one player that surpassed expectation was Bowden Francis.

Francis got off to a rocky start in 2024 when pitching out of the bullpen with a 8.59 ERA in the first month of the season which is far from how he ended his season.
This past season didn't exactly get off to the brightest of starts for the 28-year-old. After producing an 8.59 ERA in the season's first month, it would have been easy to feel that Francis was destined for further struggles. -Gueren
The Blue Jays sent Francis down to Buffalo in the first half of the season but once coming back in late July, Francis was a completely different pitcher posting a 1.80 ERA in 65 innings pitched over the next month.
Since that re-introduction to the Major Leagues at the end of July, Francis made 10 starts and threw 65 innings, allowing a 1.80 ERA. He struck out 24.7% of batters faced, only walked batters 3.4% of the time and posted a downright stingy 0.60 WHIP. -Gueren
Once they moved Francis up to the starting rotation, he turned on the jets and was one of the best pitchers in the American League in the second half of the season, finishing the year with a 8-5 record and a 3.30 ERA.
Francis finished the season with an 8-5 record, a 3.30 ERA and a 0.93 WHIP in 103.2 innings. He also developed an attractive personality in the city of Toronto. He is one of a handful of players that holds so much promise for the 2025 Blue Jays. -Gueren
Now looking forward to the 2025 season, Francis has a ton of pressure on him to continue to deliver at the same rate he did in the second half of the season which is a pressure he has never felt before heading into a new year.
It will be interesting to see how Francis admits to this new role and if he will be able to deliver once again.
