At 13-15 and four games behind the New York Yankees in the AL East, the Blue Jays would be wise to target a trade deadline upgrade if they want to remain in contention.

The Blue Jays are eyeing $34 million second baseman Brandon Lowe from the Tampa Bay Rays

Jon Conahan from The Sporting News writes that although the organization's next steps remain unclear, particularly after locking up Vladimir Guerrero Jr. with a long-term extension, pursuing an above-average bat should be part of their strategy.
"As always, one has to question why they would've made the move for Guerrero without signing other players or trading for someone else in the near future. If the idea is to compete, which it clearly is after the moves they've made, why not try to add more?" -Conahan

David Schoenfield of ESPN recently identified Brandon Lowe as a potential trade candidate, and he could be an ideal fit for this Blue Jays roster.
«So, let's throw Lowe out there as well as a position player to watch. Like Fairbanks, he's a potential free agent with a club option for 2026 ($7 million for Fairbanks, $11.5 million for Lowe) that the Rays might not necessarily want to pick up. The Mariners and Astros are possible fits, at least if the Astros continue playing Jose Altuve in left field, and maybe the Mets, either at second base (with Jeff McNeil going to center field) or DH." -Schoenfield

Conahan also writes that the Rays might be hesitant to trade Lowe within the division, but with a club option looming at the end of the year, dealing the left-handed slugger for a solid return could be their smartest move.
"A career 122 OPS+ hitter and 129 home runs in 2,241 at-bats, the eight-year professional would fit in nicely with the Blue Jays' lineup." -Conahan

The Blue Jays are back in action tomorrow night at home against the Boston Red Sox.
