To make matters worse for Blue Jays GM, Ross Atkins, and the moves he has made, we take a look at two former Toronto players, Teoscar Hernandez and Lourdes Gurriel Jr., who were traded away and combined have more home runs than all the big bats in the Blue Jays current lineup.
It is not news that the bats for the Blue Jays have been uncharacteristic, but when we look at how the big sluggers are performing compared to some former Jays, it looks even worse.
Teoscar Hernandez has 16 long balls and Lourdes Gurriel Jr. has nine. Combined they have 25 which is more than Bichette, Kiermaier, Kirk, Springer, Turner, Vogelbach and Guerrero Jr, who have 24.
Today in fun home run facts ...
Teoscar Hernández and Lourdes Gurriel Jr. have more combined dingers this year (25) than Vladdy, Bo, Springer, Turner, Kirk, Kiermaier, and Vogelbach combined (24).
To rub salt in the wounds, if you also consider Kevin Pillar who has been hot with the Angels after being signed, the center fielder has seven home runs as well, which ties Vladdy but Pillar has done it in almost 150 less at-bats.
The Jays' bats need to be better all around, but these trades that Atkins has made do not look good when compared to some of these former Blue Jays.
