The Toronto Blue Jays took on the Boston Red Sox yesterday losing the game 6-5 in the 10th inning after an incredible performance from Bowden Francis.
Francis took the mound for the Blue Jays yesterday posting an incredible 5 inning shutout giving up zero runs, 3 hits and striking out 4 batters as he continues his hot streak to end off the season.
Francis was in line for the win, but the Blue Jays' bullpen coughed up three runs and allowed the Red Sox to tie the game in the eighth inning before right-hander Tommy Nance surrendered three more runs in the 10th. Nonetheless, his start won't be forgotten because it put the finishing touch on an impressive string of eight starts in which he posted a minuscule 1.33 ERA over 54 innings - Singh
In Francis' last 10 starts he has put up incredible numbers allowed only 44 base runners over 64.2 innings pitcher with a 1.81 ERA and coming incredibly close to 3 no hitters.
As we have seen quite a bit with the Blue Jays with Francis on the mound, he has completely let down by his bullpen as they entered the game giving up a three run lead and ultimately blowing his win.
Francis is for sure a lock for next year's pitching rotation but he will need the front office to go and get some help for the bullpen if they plan on winning more games with him on the mound.
Francis is assuredly a lock for next year's rotation. The group also includes Gausman, Jose Berrios and Chris Bassitt figures to be a strength of the team and its success will go a long way toward determining the Blue Jays' fate. - Singh<
