Jon Heyman states things are heating up with the Blue Jays and free agent Nick Pivetta
According to MLB insider Jon Heyman, the Blue Jays are seriously interested in former Boston Red Sox pitcher Nick Pivetta but it looks like they are not the only team interested.
Jays are among many teams in on Nick Pivetta, a Canadian native
Despite some believing that Pivetta would be a terrible option due to his age such as insider Josh Goldberg, others feel like Pivetta is actually might better than most believe.
. @alexspeier on Nick Pivetta:
«Pivetta had a Stuff+ grade of 133, well ahead of top free agent targets such as Blake Snell (122), Corbin Burnes (120), and Max Fried (94)
For that reason, some members of the industry opined that Pivetta might still get offers in the three- and four-year range even with a qualifying offer attached to him.»
Pivetta most notably decided to add a more sweeping slider to his pitch mix after a tough outing on June 5th 2023 and since then has posted a 3.75 ERA in 237.1 innings pitched.
Nick Pivetta had a 5.65 ERA after his June 5th, 2023 outing. He decided to add a more sweeping slider, and since then:
237.1 IP 3.75 ERA 31.4% K (299) 24.7 K-BB% (299-64)
I'd like this./q>
While the Canadian born pitcher might not be the flashy starting pitcher fans were hoping for, he looks like he could end up being a great option for the Blue Jays.
