The Toronto Blue Jays are still looking to find a solid hitter to add to their lineup and the latest update has them as the favorites to land free agent Pete Alonso.

The Blue Jays off-season has been a complete failure as they have shot for the stars with many incredible free agents but have fallen short on all of them with the exception of Jeff Hoffman.

The Blue Jays are the favorites to sign free agent Pete Alonso

The Blue Jays have been linked to Alonso for a few weeks now but seem to be at the top of the list when it comes to top landing spots ever since the New York Mets seem no longer interested.
According to MLB reporter Jim Riley, the Blue Jays have the best chance at landing Alonso as he would fit greatly into a DH role and they actually have the money to spend on him.
In a recent YouTube video, content creator Jim Riley of BALLCAP sports predicted that the Blue Jays would sign Alonso, creating a first base-designated hitter timeshare with Guerrero for the 2025 season. -Roberts

"I'm going to hammer the Blue Jays for Pete Alonso, because Pete Alonso does not have options," Riley said. "These teams that have the need on the field, don't have the money... There is a desperate team in Toronto trying to spend money, trying to improve the club." -Riley

Most believe that Alonso will likely get a three year deal with a one year option although the amount is still yet to be confirmed as it varies quite a bit depending on who is talking.
If the Blue Jays can land Alonso on a three-year contract with a player option after each of the first two seasons, they'll at least show Guerrero that they care about winning this year. And if the tandem proves to be effective, they can work on locking up either slugger, or both, long-term. -Roberts

Alonso is not attracting a ton of attention in free agency which is surprising as he has been one of the best hitters in baseball over the last 10 years and is only 30 years old.
If the Blue Jays can somehow manage to get a deal done with him, this would completely change the look of their offense next season.
