Joey Votto is on the cusp of making his major league comeback. Today the 40-year-old was transferred to the Toronto Blue Jays complex in Florida to start a rehab assignment.

The #BlueJays have transferred Joey Votto to the Florida Complex League on a rehab assignment.

We'll get an update from John Schneider later today, but it sounds like the long wait for Votto to play in games is finally ending.

Votto will finally able to see how he reacts and performs in a game setting after going down with an injury in this year's Spring Training. Even though it isn't Major League ball, fans are looking forward to see him play, and this is where he can realistically judge his own abilites.
