Former beloved Toronto Blue Jays catcher Danny Jansen was recently on the Foul Territory podcast and spoke on the current Vladimir Guerrero Jr situation in Toronto.
The Blue Jays are desperate to get some kind of deal done with Guerrero after they missed out on yet another free agent target in Roki Sasaki yesterday when he signed with the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The Blue Jays have been in a messy situation with Guerrero lately as the two parties have yet to find a middle ground on a contract numbers after months of negotiating.
In a recent interview, Jansen stated that before he was traded he never heard any talk of extension regarding Guerrero but stated that the Blue Jays should try to get a deal done because he is the type of player to build a team around.

The interesting part of all of this is that heading into this big off-season, from what Jansen knows of, there was no discussion between Guerrero and management before the season ended.
Ross Atkins is now in a very difficult spot as he overplayed his hand when it comes to Guerrero and the Blue Jays are now stuck in a position where they either have to pay him or look at trading him.
As the Blue Jays have continuously missed out on all their free agent targets this off-season it makes no sense to now lose Guerrero, they need to simply give him how much he is looking for and lock him down for the next 10 years.
Hopefully Atkins makes the right move because the team is in an extremely tough spot as of right now.
