The Toronto Blue Jays 2024 season was an all around disappointment especially because they had some solid talent but as pitcher Chris Bassitt pointed out, management did not do a solid enough job of finding the right players to surround this lineup to be competitive.

General Manager Ross Atkins lost focus last off-season and spent the majority of his time trying to land the biggest free agent of the decade in Shohei Ohtani. As Ohtani ended up signing with the Dodgers at the end of free agency, the Blue Jays ended up with nothing once the season came around as they spent all of their time focusing on one player.
The Blue Jays actually had a solid lineup full of skilled players this season but were missing some key pieces that would have made them competitive due to a sloppy off-season.
The Blue Jays had no backup plan after missing out on Ohtani and it backfired
If Ownership decides to stick with Atkins for the 2025 season, he will need to make sure not to make the same mistake as the free agency board does have some incredible talent once again but the team cannot afford to solely focus on them.
Atkins will need to look into bringing in some solid hitters and adding to their bullpen with some real relievers if they truly plan on competing for a World Series next season as they keep promising to the fans.
While Atkins job is far from safe, fans will have to wait and see if ownership decides to make some changes before free agency begins at the end of playoffs which everyone already knows how the fans feel about Atkins and Shapiro.
